Among the appliances within the 'Living Kitchen' are the latest high performance built-in Refrigerator / Freezers from Sub Zero that use pioneering technology developed for NASA. As the innovators of food preservation, Sub-Zero has adopted a system that purifies the air inside the refrigerator; a process that was developed initially for NASA to aid food preservation. The system has been incorporated to eliminate odours, viruses, bacteria and ethylene gases given off by foods using small tubes coated with titanium dioxide that are enclosed in a box along with a UV light; the light activates the titanium dioxide which causes a reaction to produce oxidising agents that eliminate harmful compounds.
